What’s New in Kadence Blocks 3.1 Update
The latest version of the Kadence Blocks plugin is out now.
And in this article we have discussed what’s new in Kadence Blocks 3.1.
This update is for the free version of the plugin which means any one using the Kadence Blocks plugin will get access to the new features and improvements.
It is important to know that, in the new features there are certain parts that are only for the premium users.
And this means to get access, you will have to upgrade to Kadence Blocks Pro.
Now coming to the features included in Kadence Blocks 3.1, two new blocks, Advanced Form and Progress Bar have been released along with the option to rename blocks in List View, integration with Pexels, using videos from Vimeo and YouTube as background and more.

Kadence Blocks 3.1 Update
Before we learn more about Kadence Blocks 3.1, it is important to know that this update was released on August 4th 2023.
And below are the topics covered
New Advanced Form Block
The first new feature that you will come across in Kadence Blocks 3.1 Update is the introduction of the new Advanced Form block.
If you have been using the Kadence Blocks plugin then you must be familiar with the fact that it comes with an easy to use Form block.
And using it you can create and add basic forms on your WordPress site.
Now, this new Advanced Form block is a separate block and it comes with quite a few new features.
To see this new block, you need to click the block inserter in WordPress editor and search for form.
As you can see in the screenshot above, there are 2 form blocks
- Form- This is the basic form block by Kadence
- Form (adv)- This is the new Advanced Form by Kadence.
The new Advanced Form block is very different from the basic form block by Kadence and it comes with a Form builder.
When you will add the new Kadence Advanced Form , it will start the building process where in the first step you need to either select an existing form or create a new one.
If you want to use an existing form then you can do so by clicking the dropdown and selecting a form.
And to create a new form then all you need to do is click Create New.
Before we move forward, it is important to know that as of now you cannot select the forms that you have created using the other Form block by Kadence.
Also, if you select an exiting form created using Advanced Form block and make changes to it then those changes will be reflected site wide.
Keeping this in mind, on clicking Create New it will begin the form building process and here you will have to select the initial layout.
Once done it will take you to the next step where you need to select initial style.
On select a Style, it will ask you to give your form a title and description.
Remember, these won’t be displayed anywhere on the front end and is only for reference purposes.
Once done, you need to click Create and it will generate a form for you.
Now to add new field to this form, you need to click the + icon one the block toolbar or the + icon that appears on hovering the cursor inside the form.
When you will click the + icon, it will show you all the different field you can add.
As you can see in the screenshot above, the field have been divided into 4 categories and below we have shared each
- Standard
- Advanced
- Layout
- Miscellaneous
It is important to know that the new Advanced Form block comes with quite a few input fields such as File upload, Date, Time and more.
And this means now you do not need additional plugins for in case you want to create form that accept user information and (or) documents.
On top of this, under the Misc. tab you will find the Captcha field and using it you can prevent spam submissions.
It is important to know that the new Kadence Advanced Form block lets you select from multiple Captcha types such as.
- Google V2
- Google V3
- Turnstile
- hCaptcha
Depending on your requirement you can integrated Advanced form block with one of the anti-spam services.
Apart from this, using the new Advanced Form block in Kadence you can create email subscription forms as well.
And these can be integrated with popular email marketing tools and CRMs such as
- MailerLite
- FluentCRM
- ConvertKit
- Active Campaign
- Brevo
- Mailchimp

Moving on,
If you are looking to make changes to any of the fields in the Advanced Form block then you will have to select the field.
And all the settings will appear in the sidebar.
Similarly, if you want to make changes to form then you need to select the complete Advanced Form block and the option to make changes will be available in the sidebar.
All in all you can customize the form as per your requirements.
New Progress Bar Block
Another new block that has been introduced in Kadence Blocks 3.1 is the Progress Bar.
And using it you can showcase data in a visual format.
While browsing the web, you must have come across sites that showcase certain proficiencies in a visual form.
This can be easily achieved using the new Progress Bar block in Kadence.
To see this block, you need to search for Progress Bar in the block inserter and it will show you the block.
On adding this block, you will notice that its default shape is a Line.
And there are other options available to choose from
- Line (Default)
- Circle
- Masked Line
- Semi-Circle
You will find these options under the General tab in the sidebar.
Progress Bar shape is followed by the option to change its thickness and add border radius.
After this you will come across the option to select the number format where you will be able to decide if you want to display the Progress in decimals.
Once done, the next set of options will let you set the Max Progress and the progress to be displayed.
In case you want to display numbers then you will have to enable Show Numbers option and it will give you access to related settings.
To change the animation, you need to visit the animation tab under General settings.
And here you will find the option to set the animation duration, type and more.
Just like any other widget, you will find all the style settings under the Style tab.
Basically, you will be able to style and customize every part of the new Kadence Progress Bar block.
Pexels Integration
Moving on, the next new feature that has been introduced in Kadence Blocks 3.1 is the Pexels integration in the Media Library modal.
First things first, Pexels is a popular site for stock photography and footage.
Here you will find countless digital assets such as images, videos, graphics and more that you can use on your site for free.
To see this integration in Kadence Blocks 3.1, the first step is to add an image block or a block that uses media.
And through it you need to visit the Media Library or in other words you need to open the Media Library modal.
Please note- You can use any block here and it is not a requirement that it must be from the Kadence Blocks plugin.
On opening this modal, you will notice a new tab named Pexels. See the below screenshot for reference.
Clicking this tab, will show you a search box followed by a bunch of images.
You can enter keywords and phrases to search for images and to insert / use images from Pexels, you need to click the Download Image icon.
And within a few seconds, it will download the image and add it to our WordPress Media Library.
To use this image, all you have to do is add alt text, title, description, caption and then click Select.
Keep in mind, you will not find the Pexels tab in Media Library if you directly visit from WordPress dashboard.
Icon List in Kadence Blocks 3.1
After the Pexels integration, the next improvement that you will comes across in Kadence Blocks 3.1 update is for the Icon List block.
There are a few changes that you will come across
Nofollow and Sponsored attribute
The first improvement that has been released for the Icon List block in Kadence Blocks 3.1 is the addition of nofollow and sponsored attributes for links.
To see this change you need to add the Icon List block and select a list item.
In the next step you need to click Link settings dropdown under General settings and there you will find the option to add nofollow and sponsored attributes.

To add sponsored and (or) nofollow attribute to a link you will have to click the toggle and save changes.
Link Styling
The next improvement that has been introduced in Kadence Blocks 3.1 for the Icon List block is link styling.
As the name suggests using this option you will be able to set link color.
Also, it will let you select if you want to underline links.
To see this change you need to select the Icon List block and under the Style tab you will find link styling.

To change or set the link color, you will have to click the option and the color picker will appear.
Here you need to pick a color as per your requirements.
And once done, click Update to save changes.
Similarly, to underline links in Icon List block, you need to click the dropdown and it will show you all the options.
Here you need to pick one and then save changes.
Improvements to Row Layout Block
If you have been following the development of Kadence Blocks then you must be familiar with the fact that in Kadence Blocks 3.0 update, there were quite a few changes improvements that were released for the Row Layout block.
And continuing on the same trend in Kadence Blocks 3.1, a new feature has been added that will allow you to use Vimeo and YouTube videos as background in Row Layout.
To see this change you need to add the Row Layout block and then click the Style tab.
Doing this will show you the option to set background and here you need to select video.
On selecting video, it will show related settings one of which is a new option that allows you to choose a Background video type.

On clicking this dropdown, it will show you the option to use YouTube or Vimeo videos as background.
Now, when you will select any of these options, it will show you additional settings.
For example, if you select YouTube, then it will show you the option to add YouTube ID, set video ratio, video poster and more.
Please note- Here YouTube ID is the ID of the video that you have uploaded on YouTube and you will find it at the very end on the video URL.
For example, if the URL of the video is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHDx9gF-7-I then its video id will be UHDx9gF-7-I.
You will have to copy this ID, paste it in the space provided and Save changes.

Once done, it will use this video as a background in the Row Layout block.
Inherited Sizes in Padding and Margin
The next change that you will come across in Kadence Blocks 3.1 update is that it now displays inherited sizes in Padding and Margin controls for tablet and mobile.
If you have been using Kadence Blocks then you must have notices that it displays inherited sizes in Padding and Margin for desktop only.

This has changed in Kadence Block 3.1 and now it displays inherited values for tablet and mobile as well.

It is important to know that you can modify these values as per your needs.
Row Gap in Section Block
Moving on from the Row Layout block, the next change that you will come across has been released for the Section block in Kadence Blocks 3.1.
In this, an option to add Row Gap has been added.
To see this change you need to add the Section block and under General tab in Flex settings you will come across Row Gap.

As the name suggests using this option you will be able to add Gap between rows easily.
Location Input in Gradient Control
After Row Gap, the next improvement that you will come across in Kadence Blocks 3.1 is the addition of Location Input in Gradient control.
Using this you will be able to control point position by inputting values rather than dragging the pointers.
To see this change you need to create a gradient and then drag the pointer from one of the ends towards the middle.

After this you need to click this pointer and it will open the color picker in which you will find the new control point position option.
Here you can change the values by either using the arrows on the side or by changing or adding values in the space provided.
Remember, you can set this value for both colors of the gradient.
Renaming blocks in List View
List View is a feature in the WordPress editor that displays a list of all the blocks that you have used on your page or post.
It was released as a way to make it easier for users to navigate long pages and re-arrange blocks.
However, on opening it you will notice that it only displays the names of the blocks which makes the process of management through List View confusing.

To make things easier for you, a new feature to rename blocks in List View has been introduced in Kadence Blocks 3.1.
And as the name suggests using it you can rename blocks to something familiar which will make it easier for you to manage.
To rename blocks in List View, you need to open the List View and then click the 3 dots on the block label.
Doing this will open a menu where you will see the option to rename.
On clicking Rename, a new dialogue box will appear where you will be able to add the block name.
Once done, you need to click Save and the changes will be reflected instantly.
Keep in mind, we have renamed the Row Layout block here and this change will have no impact on other row layout blocks.
This renaming is specific to this block.
