Elementor Pro 3.13 Update
Before we learn more about Elementor Pro 3.13, it is important to know that this update was released on 8th May 2023.
And below are all the topics covered.
Mega Menu Widget in Elementor Pro 3.13
The new Menu otherwise known as the Mega Menu widget was introduced in Elementor Pro 3.12.
And in this update, it has received a few changes.
Before we dive into the improvements, it is important to know that the Mega Menu feature comes disabled by default.
And it requires that enable both Flexbox Container and Nested Elements.
For this you will have to navigate to Settings under Elementor in your WordPress dashboard sidebar.
Doing this will show to all the Elementor Settings and here you will have to click the Features tab.
In the Features tab under the ongoing Experiments you will find both Flexbox Container and Nested Elements.
Now, to activate Flexbox Container feature in Elementor, you will have to select Active in the dropdown and then Save changes.
Doing this enable it and now you will find the Container widget instead of inner section in Elementor editor.
In other words, inner section widget will be missing in Elementor.
Once you are done enabling flexbox container, the next step is to activate Nested Elements feature in Elementor.
For this you will have to select Active in the Nested Elements dropdown and Save changes.
After you are done till here, the next step is to activate menu feature in Elementor or in other words enable mega menu.
For this you will have to select Active in the Menu dropdown and then Save changes.
Now coming to the improvements
Icons in Menu Top Level
The first improvement that you will come across in the new menu widget is the addition of icons for top menu items.
You will find the option to select icons under each menu item tab.
See the below screenshot for reference
- Before Elementor Pro 3.13
- After Elementor Pro 3.13
As you can see, it allows you to upload SVG or select an icon from Elementor library.
On selecting or adding, a new option known as Active Icon will appear.
Using this option, you will be able to choose an icon for the active state of a menu item.
Active State on using Anchors
If you have been using the new menu widget then you must be familiar with the fact that, it allows you to set the Normal, Hover and Active state.
You will find this option under Style Settings.
It is important to know that before Elementor Pro 3.13 update, this option would not work with link anchors.
What this means is, if you are creating a single page site or using the new menu for internal navigation then the Active state that you have selected will not work as expected.
This has changed in Elementor Pro 3.13, and to see this improvement, the first step is to add a CSS ID for the section.
And you will find this option under Advanced tab.
In the next step you will have to add the CSS ID in the link option of a menu item.
See the below screenshot for reference.
Once done, you can set the Active state and it will work as expected.
Before we move forward, it is important to know that to see the changes you will have to Preview the page as it does not work in the Elementor editor.
Display Conditions
In Elementor Pro 3.13, the new Editor Top Bar has received an improvement where Display Conditions have been added to the Publishing menu.
Before we learn more about this, it is important to know that Editor Top Bar was introduced in Elementor 3.12.
And it contains all the common actions that you perform in one place.
As of now this feature comes disabled by default and to activate Elementor Top Bar in Elementor, you will have to head over to Features tab under Elementor Settings in your WordPress admin.
Under the ongoing Experiments, you will come across the Editor top bar.
Here you will have to select Active in the dropdown and Save changes.
This will show you the new Editor Top Bar in Elementor editor.
Now, coming to the improvement, as discussed above, Display Conditions have been added to the Publish menu.
It is important to know that Display Conditions are generally used when creating Popups or Theme parts.
To see this, you will have to visit the Elementor Popup builder by clicking Popups under Templates in your WordPress dashboard.
Doing this will take you to the popup builder and here you will have to add new or edit an existing one.
On doing so, it will take you to the Elementor editor.
Here you need to click the Down icon next to the Publish button on the top right and it will show you Display Conditions along with other options.

Post Excerpt Dynamic Tag in Elementor Pro 3.13
Moving on,
The next improvement that you will come across has been introduced for the Post Excerpt Dynamic tag.
And in this a new option to choose whether you want it to be automatically populated by the first few words of the content or from the custom excerpt you have added in WordPress.
To see this change you need to add a text widget and then add Post Excerpt dynamic tag.
After this you need to click the wrench icon and it will show you the option to Apply to Post Content.
See the below screenshot for reference
- Before Elementor Pro 3.13
- After Elementor Pro 3.13
Enabling this option will display the excerpt from the post content and you will be able to control its length as well.
It is important to know that, this improvement resolves one of the top requests since the introduction of loop builder in Elementor Pro 3.8.
Another thing you will have to keep in mind here is that, when using this feature you need to empty the custom excerpt that you have set in WordPress.
