Elementor 3.9 Update
Before we learn more about Elementor 3.9, it is important to know that- this update was released on December 6th 2022.
And below we have shared all the topic covered
Save as Default in Elementor 3.9
If you have been using Elementor then you must be familiar with the fact that any widget that you add comes with its own set of default styling.
And this styling is based on Global Colors, Fonts and more.
Although this default styling can be considered as a workflow improvement.
However, in quite a few cases you must have made changes to the widgets after adding.
In Elementor 3.9, this process has been further improved by the introduction of Save As Default experiment.
Before we learn more about this feature, it is important to know that Save As Default comes active by default.
And its status is Beta
Now, using this feature you will be able to fully customize the default settings of every single element of a widget as per your requirements.
This means after you are done making changes to the default state and you add that widget on the canvas, it will use the “new default” styling and settings.
To understand this better, lets take an example of a button widget that you are using on a regular basis.
On this button, you want
- The text to be “Get It Now”
- Alignments needs to be “center”
- Background Color is “Red”
In this situation, just setting the Global Color for the button will not help and this is where the new Save As Default feature will come in handy.
You can make desired changes to the button widget and save it as default.
And now when you will add it to the canvas, it will have default settings.
Keeping this in mind, you will find the option to Save As Default in the right click context menu.
On selecting Save as Default, a dialogue box will appear letting you know that the changes will saved for future use and includes a warning for sensitive information such as API keys, email and more.
You will have to click Save here and the element / widget will now have custom settings and styling as defult.
Kindly note- This change will have no impact on any instances of this widgets that you have used before.
It is important to know that, it is recommended that you do not store any sensitive information using this feature.
Also, using Save as Default feature you will be able to change placeholder images, fonts, background colors and more.
Just for information, this feature has been introduced in Kadence Blocks 3.0 as well
Lazy Load Background images in Elementor 3.9
Lazy load is a feature that Elementor has been adding to its widgets using media / images consistently.
And what this feature does is, it only loads the images visible in the viewport which improves the loading time.
Keeping this in mind, Lazy Load for background images has been introduced as an experiment in Elementor 3.9 update.
And it comes disabled as default with Status as Alpha.
Now to use this feature you will have to select Active in the Lazy Load background images experiment drop down and save changes.
It is important to know that unlike the Lazy Load option that you see in the media widgets, the background lazy load is slightly different.
Because you do not get the option to activate or deactivate.
This means once you have this experiment enabled, it will automatically Lazy Load all background images except the first one.
Also, this experiment comes inactive by default we recommend you use it on a test first.
Flexbox Containers in Elementor 3.9
Flexbox Container is the new and better way of building layout using Elementor and it was released in Elementor 3.6.
Since its introduction, the flexbox container has received several improvements and continuing on this tradition, in Elementor 3.9 a new Transform tab has been added to it.
First things first, this feature comes inactive by default.
And to enable it you will have to visit Experiments in Elementor settings and select Active in the Flexbox Container drop down.

Or in other words, the inner section widget will be missing and you will no longer be able to use it.
