What’s new in Elementor Pro 3.4 update- New Cart type, Vimeo video embed and more
In our last article on the Elementor 3.4 update, we discussed all about the new custom breakpoints and performance improvements that have been introduced.
The update was for the Elementor base / free plugin and was released on August 17th 2021.
Before we move forward, it is important to know that Elementor has 2 versions
- Free
- Pro
The free version of Elementor is the base plugin and can be used by anyone. On the other hand, Elementor Pro is an addon plugin that you are required to buy if you want to access premium widgets and advanced features.
Keeping this in mind, in this article we will be taking a look at the new improvements and features that have been introduced in Elementor Pro 3.4
This version of the pro plugin was released on September 01 2021 and it majorly contains improvements for online stores and sites using ecommerce capabilities.

Elementor Pro 3.4 update- Everything you need to know
Elementor Pro 3.4 is a minor update yet it touches the elements of your site that impact the user engagement, conversion rate and more.
Important note– If you are about to use the new features on your site then it is recommended that you implement it on a staging site first. Also, when updating Elementor Pro to version 3.4, don’t forget to take a backup and for this you can use UpdraftPlus.

Updates to Menu cart widget in Elementor Pro 3.4
In Elementor Pro 3.4, Menu Cart widget has received quite a lot of improvements with the introduction of new cart types, styling options for cart, products and cart buttons.
The first change that you will notice when you add the Menu Cart widget is the addition of new Content settings which are Cart and Additional options. See the below images for reference

As you can see in the screenshot above, in the Content settings for the Menu cart widget you have 2 new set of options (more on this later in this article) and these are Cart and Additional option.
Using these you will be able to extend the functionality of this widget and make the shopping process even better.
New styling options for Menu cart widget in Elementor Pro 3.4
Moving on to the Style settings of the Menu Cart widget, you will again notice a difference as the Messages tab has been introduced in Elementor Pro 3.4.

As the name suggests, this option will you style the messages on your Menu Cart
And using it you will be able to change the Typography, color and more to make it fit the design of your site.
Apart from these, there are several other styling options that have been introduced in Elementor Pro 3.4 such as Padding, border radius, box shadow for buttons, Product quantity styling, active and hover state in Products tab, the cart menu only had the color and typography option for Sub Total.
But after this update it has all the styling options you need to design / customize the menu cart.

Using these new Menu cart styling options you can design / customize your Menu cart to look just the way you want to without having to worry about code.
Addition of new Cart type in Elementor Pro 3.4
As discussed previously in this article, a new cart tab has been added to the Menu Cart widget.
And this is where you will find the Cart Type option
Using this option you can decide if you want to open the cart on the side or as a floating mini cart.
This new layout option will allow you to add the Menu cart anywhere on your site and will give users more intuitive and uninterrupted experiences.
Open Cart via click or hover
On some ecommerce site, you might have come across a feature that displays the items in the cart when you hover your pointer over it or click it.
This is a very helpful feature when it comes to user experience as people can easily keep a track of items they have added to the cart.
Keeping this in mind, you will find this setting just below the Cart type and it is known as as the Open cart
As you can see it has a drop down and using it you can select if you want to open it on click or hover.
Along with these settings in the Cart tab, you will also find options to add / remove
- Close cart
- Remove item
- Price and quantity
- Buttons
New option to automatically open the cart
In case you want the users to keep a track of all the items they have in the cart while actively shopping then this option is for you.
First things first, you will find this setting under the Additional Options tab and it is known as Automatically Open cart
When you enable this option, the cart will be opened every time a product is added and a summary of the products will be shown to the users improving the user experience.
Option to automatically update cart in Elementor Pro 3.4
Another option that has been introduced in the Elementor Pro 3.4 is the Automatically Update Cart and you can find this option in Additional Options tab in Menu Cart widget’s Content settings.
When you enable this option, any updates to the cart be it adding or removing of item will happen without refreshing the whole page.
This setting can further smoothen the shopping experience
Updates to Dynamic WooCommerce tags in Elementor Pro 3.4
If you have been using Elementor Pro then I’m sure you are familiar with the dynamic tags feature.
These tags automatically fetches and displays information when used. In Elementor Pro 3.4, Woo commerce dynamic tags have been improved.
And using these you can now embed dynamic product elements anywhere on your site be it the hero image, popup, landing pages or on any other section.
Before we move forward, it is important to know that these dynamic tags makes the overall updation process more streamlined and quick as once you make changes to the product value or anything else, it will be reflected across the site instantly without you having to do anything.
Infinite scrolling and Load more for Posts widget in Elementor Pro 3.4
If you have been using Elementor Pro then I’m sure chances are you are familiar with the most commonly use Posts widget.
In Elementor Pro 3.4 update, this widget has received an update where 2 new pagination option Load More and Infinite Scrolling have been introduced.

Using this option now you will be able to either add Load more button or enable infinite scrolling on Posts widget with just a few click and no coding required.
Video playlist’s functionality extended in Elementor Pro 3.4
In Elementor Pro 3.4, the video playlist widget’s functionality has been extended to include videos from Vimeo.
This means now you will be able to embed Vimeo videos in Elementor’s Playlist widget.
Improved Mailchimp integration in Elementor Pro 3.4
In Elementor Pro 3.4, the Mailchimp integration for the forms widget has been improved and now
- The double opt-in works as expected
- User groups load seamlessly
- More informative error messages for administrators
- Other integration issues have been resolved
